The reason why I wanted to take part in the London trip was: I had never been to London before. It seemed
to be a nice city. My thoughts before the trip were: having a good time in England. My thoughts about the trip to London came
through.
Our journey to London began at 6.45 in the morning at school. We left school for a journey that took 7 hours.
In the bus we had a lot of fun. We sang and we played cards. Time flew as we were playing cards. We stopped in Belgium. In
Calais we took the boot to Dover at twelve thirty. It was a huge boat with a restaurant and a game mall. We ate something
at the boat and we also played cards. But every one was sick. At the deck it was very windy. At one oclock we arrived at Dover.
Then we left to Canterbury.
Canterbury
In Canterbury we went to the Canterbury Cathedral, which lies in the centre of town. At this beautiful cathedral
we had to find out all the answers to the questions ourselves. I thought that it was a vere big cathedral.
The Cathedral
After the visit to the cathedral. We had the time to discover Canterbury. Canterbury is not a big city but
it is very friendly. The inhabitants are really nice. We bought a camera. We payed a visit to the market and all sportshops.
My friends bought a Nike ball. Then we had to go to the meeting point at Canterbury.
We rode two hours to the meeting point in Beckenham. At the meeting point we had to wait for the guest families.
We rode half an hour to their home. It was not a very big home. We had to refresh ourselves and then come down for dinner.
The dinner was terrible. We didnt like the food. The food was cold. We got mincemeat balls with a dirty sauce. The dessert
was also smutty. After the dinner we had to go upstairs. We played the whole evening card games. The called everytime: "cut
the noise"! But we were silent. Not a nice guest family. Than we went to sleep.
The next day we had to be at 9.30 at the meeting point. Where we left to Portobello Road.
Portobello
Road
Portobello Road is a long street with market stalls. They had all kinds of stuff. We walked all along the
entire street. It was a nice market. Ive seen a lot of different people. It was very busy. We had to be back at the meeting
point at 12.30 pm.
Cristal
Palace
We went to Selhurst park. The stadium of Crystal Palace. It was a weird stadium. It was build in different
periods of time. We were half an hour late. But we saw the first goal for Cristal Palace. After the break it became 2-0 for
Cristal Palace. But then Cardiff
City scored 1 goal. It became two against one for Cristal Palace. I liked the game very much. There was a
nice atmosphere in the stadium.
After the game we went to Piccadilly Circus. We ate at a pizza restaurant. It was a nice dinner.
After the dinner we walked through the centre of London to explore the area. We walked with our group at the
centre of Londen. We also went to Chinatown. In Chinatown all the restaurants were Chinese and all the shops to. We had to
be at Leicester Square at 8.50pm. We left the centre of London at nine oclock pm. We arrived at the meeting point in Beckenham
an hour later.
We were picked up by our guest family.. When we were in the house, we had to refesh ourselves. After the refreshment
we played cards and we ate candy. We were silent but our guest family called: cut the noise. It was a weird family.
At sunday we had to rise up at seven oclock. The breakfast was again not so nice. We got cornflakes and old
bread. We left the house after breakfast
Leeds Castle
We went to Leeds Castle. It was a short ride. Leeds Castle is a beautiful castle with wonderful gardens.
In the castle we had a guided tour. Our guide told us about the kings and queens of the castle. The whole
castle was equipped with furniture. It was very interesting. It was a very nice castle. After the guided tour we went into
a big, where we get lost. After half an hour we came out of it. Then we went in to a restaurant where we drank something.
Speakers corner
After a journey of one hour we arrived at Speakers Corner. Its a lovely public park were everyone can speak
about politics, social problems etc. There was one person that had not a political but a comical subject. He made jokes all
the time. He talked about sex and masturbation. There were real politicians too. They discuss about all different subjects.
At Speakers Cornor we saw a pickpocket. We sam him steal a wallet.
A royal walk
After Speakers Corner we walked along a couple of important buildings. We walked
along number 10 Downing street, The official residence of the prime minister since 1732. It was well guarded.
We also walked along Trafalgar Square. In the centre of Trafalgar Square stands Nelsons column at 170 feet tall.
At 6.30 am our guest family woke us. But we had to be at 8.30 at the meetingpoint. They woke us up to early.
We could have slept another hour.
After a journey of an hour and a half, we arrived at the Tower of London
The Tower of London
The tower of london is a huge building. There are many rooms with all sorts of stuff inside. In one of that
buildings are presented the The Crown Jewels. The Crown Jewels are wonderful. Our handbook says: " The Tower of Londen has
been home of the crown since the 14th century and the jewel house is an essential part of any visit to the Tower today", and
I fully agree. We also went to the white tower which is very high and were there are displays from the Royal Armouries collection,
which includes the armour of Henry V11 and the historic instruments of torture. We also went to The Bloody Tower. As this
moment the tower is furnished as it might have appeared during the 13-year imprisonment of sir-Walter Ralegh, who was charged
with plotting against James I.
After the visit to the Tower of Londen we went to an underground station. We had a one day travelcard. We
waited for a metro to the London Eye.
The London Eye
Sweeping one of the world famous skylines at 450ft high, British Airways London Eye is Londons fourth tallest
structure. It rotates in 30 minutes 360 degrees.
You can see much of London in a capsule. It was an amazing experience because it was very high. But I was
not afraid. At the capsule, I saw different of London landmarks of London.
The Science Museum.
After a ride with the metro we arrived at the Science museum. We went to a Lord of The Rings Exhibition which
was very large. At the exhibition I saw clothes from the movies. I saw videos and weapons from the movies. In the shop downstairs
we bought an airplane, but it didnt work.
After the exhibition we had time to spend freely. We took the underground to Piccidally Circus. We shopped
with six friends all together. We went to a shop with sales, where all of us bought vests. After shopping we went to the Mc
Donalds, where we ate chips and chicken. After the Mc Donalds, we walked trough the centre of Londen. We also walked through
Chinatown.
We will rock you
After a short trip we arrived at the Dominion Theatre. We looked at the fantastic musical: : "The Queen Musical
We Will Rock You", with beautiful songs and very nice actors. The plot portrays a world where musical instruments have been
banned and programmed music dominates. But a young hero, Galileo, leads a group of rebels in a quest to find mythical electric
guitars which were set in stone many years earlier. It was the best evening of the journey.
At tuesday we went back to Holland. It was a long jouney home. We had to wait a long time for the boat. At
the boat everyone was sick. The boat swinged enormously. A friend of mine had to vomit at the deck, where it was very windy.
At the boat we drank something and ate croissants. When we arrived at school it rained and it was cold. In England the weather
was better.
